Untraditional and Elegant Halloween

 Halloween Party Decor

Halloween is fun, mysterious, playful and not just for kids! You can easily throw a chic and spooky soiree for you and your friends. Keep the table simple and elegant, similar to the above photo from a Hostess with the Mostess. Orange and black are striking together.  Use clean lines and geometric prints to add levity. Short, tight floral arrangements of orange roses in white vases elegantly covered with decorative ribbon are beautiful and will not hinder across the table conversation.

Decorative Tip: covered vases are an easy way to dress up any ordinary vase and give your floral arrangements an extra boost. You can cover vases in ribbon, decorative paper or fabric squares using glue dots that you can purchase from any craft store.

To take your table to another level, substitute unique black roses for the orange roses. These add an element of sophistication and mystery to your affair.  (these roses were crafted from duct tape!)

If you are looking to evoke more of a traditional Halloween theme to your table, check out this stunning table display first showcased by At Home with Kim Vallee. The skull and crossbone motif dressed up in crystal with sleek black accents is elegant and glamorous while still projecting a spooky and chic vibe.

Another way to capture a conventional Halloween theme but in an unexpected way is to use pumpkins to display your food. Check out this tablescape that uses large pumpkins as food stands. Pumpkins can also be used as beverage or chip containers. The chalkboard backdrop written with an excerpt from Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” is a perfect spooky complement to the traditional pumpkin display.

Decorative Tip: choose pumpkins of varying sizes and colors. Hollow out each pumpkin and level off the tops so trays will sit evenly. These decorative accents can be used for a Thanksgiving themed table as well.

White décor with black accents is always incredibly chic. The dessert table above is simple, elegant and on pointe. From the painted white and silver pumpkins of various sizes to the black and white spiderweb cookies, the setting is gorgeous.

Speaking of pumpkins, the traditional symbol of Halloween, why not dress them up?

The studded pumpkins are elegant and tough looking. If you want to add a little glitz and glam, check out these rhinestone painted pumpkins from PopSugar and lace covered painted pumpkins from Honestly WTF.
